A PAIR OF FRENCH TAPESTRY CUSHIONS
First half 18th Century, possibly Beauvais, reused, possibly from a firescreen panel
Each with square panel woven in wools and silks, one depicting a lion in a landscape, the other depicting a monkey and a cat before a fire and pedestal, within a shaped floral border and with green, gold and red tasselled fringe, areas of reweaving, especially to ivory silks of cushion with lion
one: 24 in. (61 cm.) square
the other: 25 in. x 24 in. (64 cm. x 61 cm.) (2)
