Lot Essay

The design of these chairs is closely related to a group of chairs attributed to James Moore (d. 1726) which were supplied to James Brydges, 1st Duke of Chandos (1673/4-1744), for Cannons, Edgware, Middlesex (see Christie's London, 8 June 2006 lot 50).
