Lot Essay

The cornucopiae frame design is in a manner illustrated in George Smith's, Collection of Designs for Household Furniture and Interior Decoration, 1808 (pl.53). Related chairs of this form have been attributed to the celebrated court chair-maker John Gee (retired 1823).
