No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VA… Read more The large number of Japanese items at Fasque were all acquired by Sir John Gladstone, 3rd Baronet, (1852-1926) on a visit to Japan during the 1890s, shortly after he had succeeded to the Baronetcy and moved to Fasque. According to family legend, many of the boxes of objects he brought back were never unpacked during his lifetime, which may account for the fine condition that they are in.
