Said to have been given by H.L.M. King Charles I to the daughter of the Governor of Hurst Castle, Nr. Lymington, Hampshire
During the Civil War the official "Governor.Porter of Hurst Castle was Capt. Burley. Hurst was garrisoned for parliament by Major Peter Baxter, under 'Lord' Gorges. When the King passed through as a captive on his was to Windsor. The Garrison was Commanded by Col. Eyre (Ayres)
