A PAIR OF LARGE GILTMETAL-MOUNTED SÈVRES-PATTERN TWO-HANDLED VASES AND DOMED COVERS, the oviform bodies painted by Poitevin in a soft palette with 18th Century lovers and maidens in idyllic pastoral landscapes with buildings, within elaborate gilt foliage-scroll cartouches, the reverses with châteaux in secluded parklands within gilt palm-frond cartouches, the waisted necks and stems moulded with vertical gadroons and chains of husks, mounted with pine-cone finials, two loop and laurel-swag handles on beaded supports terminating in leaves encircling the lower bodies, on shaped square bases (some restoration), signed, imitation Sèvres marks, red script, circa 1900
