Louis Delanois (maître in 1761) was one of the most important menuisiers of the 1760s and 1770s, and among the first artisans to embrace the neoclassical style fashionable among the most avant-garde collectors of the time. He supplied extensively to marchands-tapissiers, but also to members of the aristocracy with progressive taste, such as the prince de Condé and Madame du Barry. One of his most important commissions was that for the King Stanislas II of Poland in 1768-70, to whom he supplied a significant amount of seats, after striking neoclassical designs by Jean-Louis Prieur.
