The mirrors pittoresque acanthus-wrapped frame is temple-pedimented with serpentined wave-scrolls enclosing a lozenge-trellised compartment, that is echoed by the base cartouche and the truss-scrolled corner 'tablets'. Such trellised enrichment can be found on frames of the 1730s designed by Antonio Vernieri (E. Colle, Il Mobile Rococo in Italia arredi e decorazioni dinterni dal 1738 al 1775, Milan, 2003, pp. 30 and 306.).
