YUAN DYNASTY (1279-1368)

These unusual figures appear to be related to, but are earlier in date, than the Ming dynasty stucco figures of similarly dressed bodhisattvas in the Shuanglin Temple, illustrated in Buddhist Sculpture of Shanxi Province, Beijing, 1991, pl. 172.
