The image (at right) of The Morning Room, Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, former residence of Henry Ford II, pictures these ormolu vases and covers adjacent to the Matthew Boulton blue-john cassolettes (lot 50) on the mantel. The fireplace is flanked by the late George III wheatsheaf mirrors (lot 6) and the George III mahogany and parcel-gilt side cabinets (lot 13). A similar pair can be seen on the mantelpiece in The Dining Room at Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan so the present lot was possibly once part of a set of four.
