Lot Essay

The engraving of the glass bodies was probably the work of one of the contemporary Stourbridge factories that relied on design books such as A Collection of Patterns for the Use of Glass Decorators, Designed by Joseph Keller. A similar pair of silver-mounted glass claret jugs by Fox, dated 1874, sold Sotheby's, London, 1 June 2006, lot 64.
