Lot Essay

Like most Gillows furniture, the design mixes elements from various Estimate Sketches. The paw feet and fluted lower column with gadrooned collars are reproduced in a jardiniere stand dated 1831 (Estimate Sketch Book no. 3803), while the foliate carved knop is shown on a tripod table dated 1841 (E.S.B no. 5362)
