S. S. Pimenov (1784-1883) modelled the figure of Vodonoska (the water carrier) at the Imperial Porcelain Factory in 1817. Inspired by his friendship and association with artists such as Aleksei Venetsianov, Alexander Orlovsky and Orest Kiprensky, his figural work progressed from classical to naturalistic in style. For a similar model of this figure, see G. Agarkhova, N. Petrova, 250 Years of Lomonosov Porcelain Manufacture St Petersburg 1744-1994, Disentis, 1994, p. 49.
