The inlaid decoration on the top of the present table features a large walled island replete with pavilions and a tall tower. The same decoration can be found on a carved cinnabar lacquer table screen included in the exhibition, Splendors of China's Forbidden City: The Glorious Reign of Emperor Qianlong, The Field Museum, Chicago, 2004, p. 253, no. 322, where the authors note that the island represents the traditional birthday motto 'Longevity Island in Fortune Sea'.
