A RARE GILT-SPLASHED BRONZE MYTHICAL BEAST-FORM CENSER
QING DYNASTY, 17TH/18TH CENTURY
The mythical beast powerfully cast standing four-square with the hollow globular body forming the censer, adorned with a collar suspending three bells and ribbons onto its chest, its raised dorsal ridge ending in a bushy tail detailed with spiral whorls, the detachable cover modelled as an upward tilting head surmounted by three horns, its mouth agape exposing fangs, bulging eyes, furry brows and a curly mane
