A REGENCY GILT-METAL-MOUNTED ROSEWOOD GAMES TABLE
Early 19th century
The square sliding top with adjustable writing slope, enclosing an inlaid backgammon well flanked by D-shaped wells for counters, inlaid overall with brass stringing and a four-leaf clover motif, below a frieze drawer on lyre-shaped ends joined by a turned stretcher, terminating in cast brass paw feet and castors, the underside bearing a paper label for a Cheltenham furniture depository, inscribed 'E. Everest', the interior bearing a metal plate stamped 'MSS'
