This ingenious Grecian-scrolled chair, with Egyptian reed enrichments in the manner promoted by the architect Sir John Soane. Intended for squab-cushion upholstery, it relates to a metamorphic chair pattern invented by the Strand cabinet-makers Messrs Morgan and Sanders, and illustrated in R. Ackermanns, Repository of Arts, 1811, where it was described as providing an elegant and truly comfortable armchairs and a set of library steps.
