Lot Essay

Two near-identical mahogany dressing tables were supplied by Gillows Lancaster to General Jones in March and June 1806 (see the Estimate Sketch Books, folios 1781 and 1792). They were fitted respectively with “6 brass nobs” and “6 commode nobs”, the latter also in brass.
