With square hinged ratcheted sliding reading-slope above a well with a leather-lined backgammon board, flanked on either side by pierced three-quarter brass galleried counter-rests containing drawers, the central section with further slide concealing a chessboard and with further silk-lined work-box below, on shaped end-supports headed by acanthus leaves, joined by a turned baluster stretcher, on splayed legs, paw feet and castors, the silk lining later
