The shaft rectangular in section with a herringbone pattern incised on the front face, fronted by an archaizing figure of the winged messenger goddess Iris, goddess of the rainbow, her wings upraised on either side of the shaft, the feathers finely incised, wearing a peplos pinned with rosette booches on her shoulders, holding the edges of the drapery in her hands, pulling her skirt tight across her straight legs, her head angled down, her hair arranged in a layered coiffure
