A RUSSET-DECORATED DARK BROWN-GLAZED BOWL
JIN DYNASTY, 12TH CENTURY
Of Cizhou type, the rounded sides rising to an upright rim, the interior and exterior covered with a blackish-brown glaze embellished on the interior with five large russet splashes draining towards the center and ending in an irregular line on the exterior to expose the pale grey stoneware body, an inscription, Er Han (Second Han), painted in black on the convex base
7 3/8 in. (18.7 cm) diam.
