The octagonal tankard decorated with niello panels of scrolling foliage and strapwork bordered by lobes, on a shaped circular foot chased with scrolls, bosses, and acanthus, with foliate scroll handle, the detachable faceted cover with flower finial, marked on cover and base with 'Gubkin' in Cyrillic; the cups cylindrical on circular feet and with cast foliate scroll handles, each decorated with niello scrolling foliage centering cartouches, one depicting the Bronze Horseman, the other depicting the monument to Minin and Pozharsky, one maker's mark 'J.G.', Moscow, 1843, the other maker's mark indistinct, Moscow, first half 19th century
