Of conical form with narrow base, the sides delicately carved on the exterior in three distinct bands, the upper with large ovals, the central with hexagons and the lower with a lattice of smaller ovals, repaired breaks, areas of iridescence

Lot Essay

Three beakers of similar form are in the Corning Museum of Glass (David Whitehouse, Sassanian and post Sassanian Glass in the Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, New York, 2005, nos.60-63, pp.51-54). The first of these in particular, although somewhat larger, has many very similar features to the present example including the colour of the glass used.
