The rectangular seat covered in yellow foliate damask, on moulded X-frame supports centred by an oval patera, on moulded feet, stamped 'JOHN TAYLOR & SONS EDINBURGH MANUFACTURERS' and 'N(?)U9941'

Lot Essay

Two 19th century Edinburgh cabinet-makers by the name of John Taylor are recorded. One is listed at 100 Rose Street from 1826-1827 and another was listed in George Street from 1841 (F. Bamford, A Dictionary of Edinburgh Wrights & Furniture Makers 1660-1840, Leeds, 1983, p. 112).
