Depicting a figure seated upon a lion beside two further figures, one with hands raised peering up at two birds perched on a tall blossoming prunus tree, one side with a bat seated on a shell, all on a square base
14¾ in. (37.5 cm.) high overall, mounted on a later wood stand

Lot Essay

A similar sectional ivory carving but in the form of a raft was included in the exhibition Chinese Ivories from The Kwan Collection, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, 28 July to 14 October 1990, no. 154. p. 308.
