拍品專文

The sitters have been identified as wearing English fashionable dress of the 1540's. The gentleman's bonnet, length of hair and beard were current in the first decades of the 16th century. The females are wearing fashionable coif type hats. However, the helmet-like shape of the third panel is not typical of the period. This lady also bears a fleur-de-lys motif to her collar, while the other is carved with a rose ornament. One could speculate that these signfy a family emblem or a political allegiance.
