Edo period (19th century), signed Kajikawa saku and with red jar seal
Decorated in polychrome takamaki-e, hiramaki-e and aogai inlay with a scene of a lantern, Japanese lute (biwa) and drum behind a curtain of state (kicho) with mother-of-pearl tabs, on a black and gold togidashi ground patterned with clouds and applied with gold hirame, the interior nashiji; with a box (hako) netsuke decorated in similarly colored lacquer and mother-of-pearl inlay with a flute, sho (mouth organ) and its brocade bag, signed Toyo, and with goldstone bead ojime
