The architectural body extensively veneered with tortoiseshell, and decorated with stamped gilt-foil, ivory stringing and engraved ivory panels; the hinged lid with a hidden drawer beneath, the drawer marked to the underside in ink 'Reparirt .1856'; the body with four further panels to each side; each corner with three hardstone columns mounted with gilt-metal capitals and plinths; a further hidden drawer to the front beneath the main compartment; on squat ebonised wood bun feet; the top pietra dura panel replaced, the lining modern, minor losses, repairs and restorations
