The inscription cartouche contains a variant on a couplet by Sa'di, which reads an sarv kih guyand ba-bala-yi tu manad, hargiz ba-chunin qamat u raftar nabashad - 'That cypress which they say is of your height, can never be of such stature and behaviour'
