A SILVER FILIGREE CASKET
UNMARKED, PROBABLY SPANISH COLONIAL/HISPANO-AMERICAN, LATE 18TH CENTURY
Rectangular with incurved sides, cover set with a large grey agate panel with gilded intaglio coat of arms, possibly a civic coat of arms, mounted at each corner with silver-gilt artichoke finials, ropework borders, filigree sides and solid base, complete with key which is attached to the cover on a hinged flap, the front with two arched panels engraved with flower-heads and leaves, flanked by plain bosses, four similar bosses set around the plain border of cover, raised on four small partly-pierced button-like feet
