Shaped oval with faceted sides, the body with bright-cut borders, with straight spout and leaf-capped wood handle, the domed cover with wood finial, one side of body engraved with mantling enclosing monogram CMG, marked under base with eagle mark
11½ in. long; 18 oz. 10 dwt. gross weight

Lot Essay

The engraved initials CMG are for Colgate (1819-1875) and Martha Gilbert of Baltimore, Maryland who were married in 1850.
