A SMALL GROUP OF BAMBOO CARVINGS, 18TH CENTURY
comprising a cylindrical brushpot carved with figures within a terrace and fenced garden, scholars viewing an open screen, a mother watching her children play, all surrounded by large overhanging trees and rockwork -- 6in. (15.3cm.) high; a smaller oval brushpot carved with figures in a boat beneath gnarled pine branches, the base carved as three supports -- 4 5/8in. (11.8cm.) high; and a carving of Luohai seated upon an oversized three legged toad, the creatures mouth open wide, his body forming a hollow receptacle -- 5 7/8in. (15cm.) high. (3)
