A SMALL YELLOW JADE MYTHICAL BEAST PENDANT
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
Finely carved on one rounded side to depict a crouching mythical beast in profile, its curly mane continuing along its back and terminating in a long tail, the flattened reverse side incised with stylised clouds surrounding a tablet-shaped legend carved in high relief, the surface in low relief with two characters, Jian above An, within a raised border, pierced with apertures on the neck, the underside for attachment and side of tail, the stone of even light yellow tone with areas of russet inclusions
