A SOUTH ITALIAN RED-FIGURE POTTERY PELIKE, with youth leaning on staff facing a draped female figure who stands holding out a patera and two feathers, the youth naked apart from a cloak loosely draped over his left arm, reverse with two standing youths wrapped in himations, one with a staff, palmettes beneath the handles, band of laurel above and frieze of meander and crossed squares encircling below, details including garlands around the head in added white -- 12 5/8 in. (32.1 cm.) high, 4th Century B.C.
