Please note that although the design for this chair is widely documented as 1988, the present owners were gifted the chair in 1986.

This example of the 'Spine' chair dates from the first limited edition of 50 examples hand-forged by a blacksmith in the Dordogne region of France in 1988-89. The popular success of the design led Dubreuil to modify the chair to a version of less fine construction than the present early example, better suited to unlimited production.

The chair was a gift to the present owner in the first year of its production.
