Circa 1765
Of baluster form, the dragon spout moulded with acanthus and a rosette, the reeded strap handle at the side, drawn in black and enameled in bright colors with a gallant playimng a flute to entertain his companion in a landscape, a spray of iron-red lilies on the far side between handle and spout, the domed cover with a band of green diaper-pattern and scrolls enriched in pink

See The Herbert and Sylvia Jacobs Collection; Christie's, New York, 24 January 1994, lot 46 and Property from the Estate of Virginia Carroll Crawford, Christie's East, New York, 23-24 January 2001, lot 84 for coffee-pots of similar form, material and decoration but with higher covers and with handles placed opposite the spout rather than to the side as with the present chocolate pot.
