A Stoneware Flower Vase
Bizen Ware (circa 1900),
of mallet form with circular lower body and inset, tall cylindrical neck and moulded with two loop handles at the midsection, pinched and incised with two vertical lines at one side of lower section, large patches of reddish-brown scorching
9 7/8in. (25.1cm.) high
With wood box inscribed on underside of lid Bizen hanaire (Bizen flower vase) and signed by the Omote Senke School tea master Seisai (Fushin'an XII) (1861-1936) with his name and kakihan (cursive monogram)
