Edo period (18th century)
Constructed of eight russet-iron plates assembled with standing rivets to form an exaggerated dome mounted with a four-stage chrysanthemum tehen kanamono, the large turnbacks and peak applied with doe skin, the turnbacks decorated with gilt-copper chrysanthemum family crests and highlighted with blue cross-stitch lacing, the helmet fitted with a four-stage solid-plate iron neck guard lacquered russet-brown on the exterior and gold on the interior, laced in white
