A Three-Case Lacquer Inro
Edo Period (19th century), signed Kanko Bunryusai and sealed Bun
Of oval section and lacquered in colored takamaki-e, hiramaki-e, hirame, mura-nashiji, mokume togidashi and gold foil against a roiro-nuri ground with a rooster on a drum and a hen and two chicks on the reverse, the interior nashiji; fitted with a soft-metal bead ojime and a manju netsuke decorated with a grasshopper in gold and silver lacquer on a roiro-nuri ground, signed Kansai [Koma Kansai II], and with kao (cursive monogram)
