Decorated in varicolored gold, silver, red and black hiramaki-e and mother-of-pearl inlay, with a Portugese woman in a long dress seated atop a recumbent elephant, the reverse with a Portuguese trader wearing baggy bombacha pantaloons and carrying a parasol over his shoulder, all against a mottled red-lacquer over gyobu nashiji ground, the interiors black lacquer; with a carved jade netsuke in the form of an archaistic dragon inside a reticulated plaque
