Signed Koma Kansai and kao, Edo Period (19th Century)
The gold ground decorated with sword fittings on both sides, the tsuba in tetsusabi-nuri simulating iron, with floral designs in gold lacquer, the kurikata in tetsusabi-ji, the kozuka with black ishime lacquer plate imitating shakudo-nanako, with two silver and copper lacquer string-decorated balls and another in gold heidatsu with shippo design and tying-cords, and a pair of seppa and habaki, both in kinji, inlaid with a pair of shakudo shishi, compartments and risers nashiji, fundame rims, with an attached netsuke of a natural piece of cherry wood, decorated in gold hiramaki-e with cherry blossom, signed Toyo (Iizuka) with kakihan and inscription Shoku Joshu ki ou, an ojime of a shamisen, the sides in mokume nuri [imitating wood-grain], with an open song book on the reverse, the songs in sumie-togidashi-e
