The large rectangular top with re-entrant corners and an inset gilt-tooled red leather writing surface, above three frieze drawers to each side, on bifurcated end standards terminating in cast-brass hairy-paw feet and brass castors, the locks stamped 'IMPROVED LEVER' with 'VR' below a crown
