Although Chapel Farmhouse originally dated from the 17th century it underwent considerable renovation in the early part of the 20th century by the architect Charles Bowles who restored it to be in keeping with its original Jacobean appearance. It seems very likely that the current chimneypiece with its Jacobean style strap work to the frieze would have been installed during these renovations, but appears to be of earlier manufacture.
