A Viennese gilt-metal and enamel-mounted ebonized secretaire-cabinet
Last Quarter 19th Century
Decorated allover with rectangular, circular and variously shaped plaques decorated with mythological scenes, the balustraded top mounted to the front corners with classical male and female figures, above a frieze, over a pair of cupboard doors flanked by baluster columns and centred to the bottom by the figure of a satyr, opening to an interior fitted with six drawers, above a sloping drop-down flap, the reverse fitted with a leather writing surface and with an interior centered by a compartment flanked to each side by a pair of drawers, over a frieze drawer, on circular tapering legs joined by a stretcher centered by a dual-handled urn
72½ in. (184 cm.) high; 40 in. (101.6 cm.) wide; 26 in. (66 cm.) deep
