A WHITE JADE INSCRIBED BAMBOO-FORM BOX AND COVER
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
The box is finely carved in the shape of a bamboo root, the surface in relief with further bamboo branches bearing leaves, beside an incised poetic inscription followed by a Yongzheng guichou cyclical date and a seal reading Xueshu caotang ‘Thatched hall of learning’. The cover is similarly carved of conforming shape and design.
