Of rectangular form, with three foliate-wreathed X-framed divisions joined by turned baluster stretchers, above a frieze drawer, with four finials, on ring-turned tapering inverted cup legs, brass caps and castors

Lot Essay

This canterbury derives from a design by John C. Loudon published in 1833 in his Encyclopaedia of Cottage, Farm and Villa Architecture and Furniture, 1833. A canterbury of the same design was sold anonymously, Sotheby's London, 25 September 1998, lot 170.
