Lot Essay

Thomas Horne, hinge-maker of the Globe Works, Birmingham, took out a hinge patent in 1835.
This collectors cabinet, which belonged to Lord Berkeley Paget, may well have belonged to his grandfather, the great soldier-statesman Henry Paget, 1st Marquess of Anglesey and Commander of the United British Cavalry at the Battle of Waterloo. The 1st Marquess was also the owner of the Anglesey desk, sold by the Executors of the late Sir John Musker, in these Rooms, 8 July 1993, lot 125.
