A wood cabinet with cloisonne enamelled panelling, Meiji Period (1868-1912)
the cabinet of rectangular form with staggered shelving, single and double fronted cabinet doors and varying sized drawers, each fronted with a panel of partially wireless cloisonne enamels, variously depicting a pair of quails, Kannon seated high upon a mountain contemplating a waterfall, Daruma crossing the sea standing on a leaf, two peasant figures carrying bundles of hay and others of ducks, wading birds and flowersprays, the shelving further decorated with supports of carved and pierced wood depicting stylised dragons and scrolling flowerheads -- 36 5/8in. (93cm.) high, wood stand.
