Entirely of steel, with broad double-edged leaf-shaped blade stamped 'Joubert' on one side, and engraved on the other 'Dros Urddas Cymru (for the honour of Wales)', folding disc hand-guard, grip with original cord binding terminating in a sharpened pommel, and original canvas-bound leather scabbard

This machine-gunner's sidearm is an extremely rare example of a limited number of weapons acquired by Lord Howard de Walden when commanding the 9th battalion of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers in 1917. It was designed at his request by Felix Joubert, the arms and armour collector and retorer, who patented it in 1916. The weapons were used by the battalion's Mills Bombers and Lewis Gunners
