Elisha and the Shunammite woman

Bauch records the present lot erroneously as formerly in the Binder Collection, Berlin. The original, signed and dated 1626, is in a private collection, Germany, for which a preparatory drawing is in the Kupferstichkabinet, Berlin (K. Bauch, 'Handzeichnungen Pieter Lastmans', Münchner Jahrbuch der bildenden Kunst, 1952/53, p.221, fig.3).

The subject is taken from II Kings 4:37.
